About us and
and Emil Heger
We have been united for many years by a passion for ceramics and an interest in purist design. What drives us is the joy of the material, the enthusiasm for outstanding craftsmanship as well as the flow in the creative process. We launched kaas+heger in 2017 with the idea to produce a joint tableware collection in a concise minimalist design language and outstanding craftsmanship.

in the Westerwald
Our region is known worldwide for its high-quality clay deposits. We are enthusiastic about our stoneware clays because they have excellent properties. Through them we achieve a high-fired, dense and durable tableware, which we traditionally produce on the potter’s wheel. Inspired by the natural colours of this great ceramic material, we have developed an aesthetic, harmoniously coordinated colour palette. The fascinating combination of these beautiful shades combined with our extraordinary shape design creates the individual signature of kaas+heger, which has a high recognition value.
»ACHIEVING A LOT WITH A LITTLE
MAKES US HAPPY.
WE ARE NOT INTERESTED
IN OFFERING AS MANY PRODUCTS
AS POSSIBLE, BUT THE RIGHT ONES.«
Due to the purely handcrafted production, every single ceramic from kaas+heger is a unique piece that delights again and again, even if it has become a daily companion for a long time. To us, traces of the hand that arise in the handicraft process, such as the turning grooves on the potter’s wheel, are a sign of outstanding craftsmanship and, like the individuality of the person, unique and unmistakable. Our cups, bowls and plates have a silk-gloss transparent glaze on the inside. The outside of the vessels is finely sanded by hand in an elaborate process, giving them the sensuous feel of a velvety smooth pebble.
The special craftsmanship and design quality that we give to all parts of our collection is reflected in the attention to detail, the care with which proportions and shapes are designed for optimal usability and, last but not least, in the cleverly considered multifunctionality that takes into account the sustainable use of finite resources. These are very important aspects that have received the highest attention from both of us for years, both in our designs, the selection of regional materials and in the complete manufacturing process.
Variable in their
We love things that have nothing too much and are as variable as possible in their function. Achieving a lot with a little makes us happy. We are not interested in offering as many products as possible, but the right ones. That’s what we’re working on and we keep checking our ceramics against these criteria. Our tableware collection guarantees a long life with timeless aesthetics and lasting pleasure in use.
